ABOUT MONTEL
Montel Goodrick-Maiava is a New Zealand-born artist and Director of Photography whose work sits at the intersection of film, atmosphere, emotion, and visual experimentation. Self-taught in colour grading, sound design, and visual effects, he approaches image-making as a complete sensory language, shaping not only what is seen, but what is felt. Having worked across multi-faceted creative fields in Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and now Dubai, Montel brings a global and culturally layered perspective to his creative practice. His work often moves away from conventional commercial cues, instead leaning into emotional tension, mood, texture, and symbolic detail, as seen through his projects within @rair.club and @gafla.
